Maldives strongly condemns attempted drone attacks targeting oil facilities in Saudi Arabia

The Maldivian government on Tuesday condemned the drone attacks targeting Saudi Arabia’s oil facilities.

Saudi Arabia’s Defence Ministry said on Monday it had foiled drone strikes aimed at the country’s eastern province, the capital Riyadh, and key oil infrastructure. The ministry said the attack was carried out by an Iranian‑backed group based in Iraq.

The Maldivian Foreign Ministry issued a statement condemning the attacks as a threat to regional stability.

The government said Maldives stands with Saudi Arabia and supports any measures taken to protect its security and sovereignty.

The attacks come two weeks after heavy exchanges between the United States and Iran.

Iran has said it has halted attacks on US allies after the US suspended its strikes.
