Four arrested during ‘India Out’ protest

Police have arrested four participants of the opposition coalition’s ‘India Out’ protest which took place this evening at Hulhumale’.

They said the four were arrested for failure to obey a police order.

Some members of PPM have alleged that the Police have stated that they cannot go out on the streets whilst wearing ‘India Out’ t-shirts. They have also alleged a police officer of having stated that individuals who call for ‘India Out’ will be battered.

Last Friday, the Police impeded a planned motorcycle rally by the opposition coalition as part of their ‘India Out’ campaign – citing to have received information of intentions to cause disturbances.

To further promote the ‘India Out’ campaign – opposition leader, former President Yameen Abdul Gayyoom currently visiting residential islands outside of the Male’ region.
