Airport workers attacked, robbed of MVR 93,000

Two of Maldivian Airline’s employees who work at the airport in Fuvahmulah City were attacked with a sharp-edged weapon on early Wednesday, and robbed of thousands in cash.

According to police, the two employees were attacked on their way to the bank to deposit the cash.

The employees were attacked by two individuals who had their face covered, said the police.

The incident was reported to the police at approximately 02:00 am on Thursday.

Police said that preliminary findings show more than MVR 93,000 was stolen.

One of the employees sustained injuries in the attack and was treated at the hospital.

Police have yet to make an arrest in the case.
