Heavy rain, thunderstorms expected across Maldives

Maldives Meteorological Service forecasts heavy rain and thunderstorms to affect all regions of Maldives.

Maldives Meteorological Service has issued white alert for regions from H. A. Atoll to Addu City, effective from 09:15 am to 01:00 pm this Tuesday.

With the heavy rain and thunderstorms, surface winds are expected to be southwest/westerly 10 – 20 miles per hour in southern atolls and east/southeasterly 5 – 15 miles per hour elsewhere.

Winds may gust 40 miles per hour during showers.

Seas are expected to be moderate in southern atolls and slight elsewhere, becoming rough during showers.

Both Maldives Meteorological Service and Maldives National Defense Force have urged caution, especially from seafarers.
