National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC) has announced that a missing migrant worker who tested positive for the virus in the Maldives has now been located.

Speaking in a press conference tonight, NEOC spokesperson Mabrouq Azeez stated that just one migrant worker who tested positive for the virus remains unaccounted for.

The most recent migrant worker accounted for is case number 594. Case numbers 1062 and 1063 were both living with case number 594 before testing positive for the virus.

“Case numbers 1062 and 1063 were both tested positive from the Vilimale’ Detention Center. They were both held in isolated cells (no other contacts). The two had been living in the same block with an individual we were searching for previously, case number 594,”

“Case number 594 was one of the two unaccounted for up until yesterday. The individual has now been found. So only one remains unaccounted for from the individuals we are searching for.” Said Mabrouq.

HPA had announced that it was searching for seven individuals who had tested positive. Authorities could not locate them after they had tested positive. Police efforts to locate the individuals had led to six of them being found so far.
