A labor quarter under construction by a Chinese company has been completed.
The quarter will house 800 workers and was constructed under the aid of the Chinese government.
Speaking in a press conference tonight. National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC) spokesperson Mabrouq Azeez stated that the China State Construction and Engineering Corporation had not requested any payment for the project.
“The facility has 800 beds. Distributed into four dormitory blocks. Has one mess hall and kitchen as well as two toilet blocks.” Said Mabrouq.
Renovation of a two-floor building in Hulhumale’ is also currently underway by the Beijing Urban Construction Group. The company was working by forming a 40 strong task force of workers to establish a 327 quarantine facility at the location, according to the Chinese Ambassador to the Maldives Mr. Zhang Lizhong.
