Ambassador Shabeena received with honour guard at Palace Serbia as she presents credentials

Maldives’ first Non-Resident Ambassador to Serbia, Aminath Shabeena, presented her credentials to Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić on Monday.

The ceremony was held in the morning at Palace Serbia in Belgrade, after which Ambassador Shabeena paid a courtesy call on President Vučić. During the meeting, she conveyed congratulations and warm wishes on behalf of the President of Maldives. As the first Ambassador of Maldives to Serbia, she assured the President that she would work to further strengthen the close relations between the two countries.

Ambassador Shabeena later attended a dinner hosted by Serbian Foreign Minister Marko Đurić. She also met with Jelena Marković, Head of the Asia, Australia and Pacific Department at the Serbian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Discussions focused on further strengthening bilateral cooperation in education, tourism and trade.

Ambassador Shabeena was accompanied by Saifulla Waleed, Second Secretary at the Embassy of Maldives in Germany.

Political relations between Maldives and Serbia were established on March 1, 1975.
