Police say no arrests have been made in violent altercation at KPS during PNC vote count

No arrests have been made in connection with the fighting at a polling station in Hulhumale' during the ruling People’s National Congress (PNC)’s internal elections, police said Sunday.

Police said a group entered Kaamil Didi School (KPS) in Phase Two of Hulhumale' at around 21:15 pm while votes were being counted for the PNC’s internal election.

Police are also investigating a case of damage to the school and its property. They confirmed that no arrests have been made so far, and that the incident remains under investigation.

According to videos circulating on social media, the clash took place inside KPS. The footage shows two groups exchanging heated verbal attacks and shoving each other. Chairs were thrown during the altercation.

Two police officers present at the time attempted to stop the clashes, but the confrontation continued for an extended period.
