Ibrahim Haleem, who worked at Muliaage palace, the official residence of the president of the Maldives, under six presidents, passed away on Tuesday.
Haleem died at the age of 76. His funeral prayer will be held at 23:00 on Tuesday night.
Senior state officials have expressed condolences over the passing of Haleem, who dedicated decades of service to the state.
In a post on X, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu extended condolences to Haleem’s family.
Haleem served the state for more than half a century, most of it at Muliaage. He worked with six presidents with what colleagues describe as unwavering respect and care.
Former President Mohamed Nasheed also conveyed condolences in a post on X, describing Haleem as “an exemplar of loyalty and professionalism.”
Haleem received the National Award for Public Service in 2021.

He began his government service on July 5, 1971, as a peon at the Attorney General’s Office. He later served at the Prime Minister’s Office, the Government Hospital, and the President’s Office.
He began his service at Muliaage on February 12 (year omitted in the source), where he held several roles over the decades, including Muliaage priest, supervisor of the presidential palace, general services officer, general services supervisor, head VIP waiter, and chief VIP waiter.
Since joining Muliaage, Haleem served President Ibrahim Nasir, President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom, President Mohamed Nasheed, President Dr. Mohamed Waheed, President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom, and President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih. He played key roles in numerous state ceremonies held at the presidential residence.
When receiving the Public Service Award, Haleem said he carried out every duty with care and responsibility. He was widely described as kind, compassionate, and deeply respected by colleagues.
To mark the 100th anniversary of Muliaage, Haleem was also among those honored with a plaque recognizing the longest‑serving staff of the presidential residence.
