Rameez, former member of the People’s Special Majlis, passes away

Moosa Rameez, a former member of the People’s Special Majlis and a long‑serving public administrator from Shaviyani Atoll, passed away on Sunday.

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu extended condolences to his family and the people of Shaviyani Atoll, noting Rameez’s long record of service in island and atoll administration. In a message on X, the President highlighted Rameez’s contributions as an atoll leader and his role in national governance.

Rameez, from Sh. Komandoo, held several key positions over the years. He served as Governor of Shaviyani Atoll and Fuvahmulah, and was a member of the People’s Special Majlis. He also served as Senior Policy Executive at the Ministry of Home Affairs during the administration of former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom.

The President prayed for Allah’s mercy upon Rameez and conveyed prayers for patience and strength to his family.
