Two hospitalized with serious injuries after boat accident off Vilimale’

Two crew members of a speedboat were rushed to the hospital with serious injuries on Monday, after the boat they were on crashed into another vessel.

Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) states that the accident took place in the morning as the boat ‘Tour Guard’ with two people on board set off from Vilimale’ to Gili Lankanfushi Maldives.

The MNDF Male’ Area Command, Coast Guard Second Squadron was immediately deployed to respond to the accident.

According to the MNDF, the boat was very close to Vilimale’ when the accident took place.

The accident had involved another vessel, the details of which are unclear at this point.

The accident resulted in serious injuries to the two people on ‘Tour Guard’, both of them crew members.

They were taken to the Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) in Male’ City.

The hospital has yet to disclose any details regarding their condition.

The photo shared by MNDF shows the accident resulted in extensive damage to the front right of ‘Tour Guard’.
