Ahmed Siyam Mohamed, president of Maldives Development Alliance (MDA) has urged everyone to adhere to Islamic values and social norms when celebrating the upcoming Eid al-Adha.

Siyam, who also serves as the parliamentary representative for Dh. Meedhoo, made the appeal in an address on Tuesday.

In his address, Siyam noted that Eid al-Adha marks the culmination of the annual hajj pilgrimage in Mecca, and serves as an opportunity to reflect on the spiritual lessons the holy pilgrimage teaches.

He stressed that the religion of Islam promotes unity and equality, and urged people to maintain these principles in everything they do.

Siyam also warned people against compromising Islamic values when celebrating Eid.

“I urge everyone to remain steadfast in sticking with the beautiful principles of Islamic and societal norms when celebrating Eid,” he said.

He also urged everyone to show compassion and inclusivity when celebrating Eid.

He concluded his address with a prayer for peace and prosperity for the entire Muslim Ummah.
