Incumbent Ihavandhoo Council President Ahmed Sobah, an elected councilor, and a Women’s Development Committee (WDC) member from the island have signed up for the PNC on Tuesday.

Sobah, who lost the last council election despite contesting as an independent candidate, was followed by elected councilor Mohamed Firag and WDC elected member Haleemath Huraasath.

All three were elected as independent candidates.

Before accepting their forms, PNC Parliamentary Group Leader and the party’s campaign manager for the council elections Ibrahim Falah said independent MPs who won their seats had supported the PNC and the policies of the current government.

Falah urged private candidates, councilors elected on other party tickets, and WDC members to join the PNC.

However, when asked by a journalist how many councilors have signed up for the PNC so far, Falah said he would announce the number later.

Two weeks ago, two other elected councilors also signed up for the PNC.
