Officials elected to PNC posts sworn in

The newly elected officials of the ruling People’s National Congress (PNC) were formally sworn into office on Friday.

The officials elected to various senior leadership positions took their oaths during a session held as part of the party’s ongoing congress.

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu attended the oath ceremony. Among those who took their oaths were PNC’s Chairperson and Parliament Speaker Abdul Raheem Abdulla, PNC’s Parliamentary Group Leader Ibrahim Falah, and Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef.

The officials sworn in also included the party’s Vice Presidents, cabinet ministers and officials holding ministerial rank appointed to leadership positions within the party, managing directors and CEOs of state-owned enterprises, and female members elected to the PNC Senate.

Administrative officials of the party, constituency presidents, and members of steering committees were also sworn in during the session.

The oaths of office were administered by former Prosecutor General Muhuthaz Muhusin.

The PNC is currently the largest political party in the Maldives. The party was initially established as a coalition partner of the Progresstive Party of Maldives (PPM) to facilitate the political activities of former president Abdulla Yameen.

During Thursday’s session of the PNC Congress, the party also passed a resolution awarding the 2028 presidential ticket to President Muizzu without a primary.
