All towers in Hulhumale' Phase II were restored to power on Sunday night after an outage that lasted nearly eight hours.

Power disruptions were first reported around 15:30 from several Hiyaa towers and Vinares apartments. Residents said eight Hiyaa towers and multiple Vinares units initially went dark, and the outage later spread to additional buildings as the evening progressed.

At 23:35, STELCO announced on X that electricity had been restored to all towers. However, the company noted that some customers in the beach‑side area were still without power and that a temporary cable was being laid to restore service to them.

“We apologize to all customers who experienced difficulties due to today’s outage. We thank our employees for their effort and cooperation during this difficult time,” STELCO said.

Earlier, the company said the outage was caused by damage to one of the main cables supplying electricity to Phase II, damage believed to have occurred during excavation work.

The prolonged outage left many families in Hiyaa towers without electricity through the hot afternoon and evening. Phase II is a densely populated area with thousands of families still moving in, and ongoing construction has previously caused cable damage and power cuts.

Residents have repeatedly raised concerns about the inadequate provision of essential services in the area.
