Dead body of expat found at Addu Hithadhoo swimming track

A dead body has been discovered in the waters of Addu City’s Hithadhoo swimming track.

According to the Maldives Police Service, the incident was reported at approximately 16:41pm this evening.

The authority confirmed that the deceased is a foreign national, although the exact cause of death remains unclear at this stage.

The body has been recovered from the sea and transported to Addu Equatorial Hospital.

The Police stated that the identity and nationality of the individual have not yet been established, and efforts are currently underway to determine this.

An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death is ongoing.
