Youth reported dead while swimming in Dhuvaafaru; identity yet to be confirmed

A young man has died while swimming in R. Dhuvaafaru on Tuesday afternoon.

Dhuvaafaru Council President Ahmed Shah told Sun that the youth was first reported dead at 4:30 pm. The body has since been transported to Ungoofaaru, he said.

Shah said no further details of the incident have been received so far.

“I was also called only about bringing the body here, for permission to bring it to Dhuvaafaru,” he said, noting that the young man’s identity has not yet been confirmed.

Police have not issued a statement regarding the incident.
