Sun introduces ‘summary’ feature for all news articles

Sun Siyam Media’s Sun.mv—one of the Maldives’ longest-running online news platforms—along with its English-language edition See.mv, has introduced AI-generated summaries for its news articles starting Tuesday.

The new feature is intended to accommodate readers who prefer shorter content or who may not have the time to read full-length articles. Under this update, each article will include two forms of summaries: a descriptive narrative summary and a key-point summary presented in bullet format, highlighting the most important facts of the story.

Commenting on the new feature, Sun Siyam Media’s CEO Mohamed Asif (Mondhu) said it was introduced to provide additional convenience for Sun’s readers in accessing information. He added that individuals with limited time would now be able to stay informed through the concise AI-generated summaries.

Mondhu further reaffirmed Sun Online’s commitment to pursuing future advancements by utilizing artificial intelligence and other modern technological tools to enhance its services.

Established 16 years ago, Sun Online remains one of the most widely followed news platforms in the Maldives. The publication aims to provide readers with impartial and accurate information in a timely and comprehensive manner.
