Sun Siyam Media (SSM) has officially inaugurated its first regional bureau in Feydhoo, Addu City, as part of an initiative to enhance content across SSTV, Sun Online, and SunPlay while expanding opportunities for creative talent from across the country.
The bureau was officially inaugurated by Addu High School’s Principal Ibrahim Nadheem during a special ceremony held at Equator Village in Gan, Addu City, on Wednesday. The event was attended by senior officials and dignitaries representing various sectors across the city.
Established in partnership with ‘Vaguthun Live,’ a prominent private production house in Addu known for its extensive content production and live-streaming of events, the bureau is expected to serve as a key hub for delivering news and programmes from across Addu City. The facility will also function as a training centre for young people interested in pursuing careers in media and broadcasting.
Speaking at the ceremony, Addu High School’s Principal Nadheem highlighted the abundance of talented and capable individuals in Addu City who could contribute to the media industry, noting that the bureau would provide them with valuable opportunities. He also pledged the school’s full cooperation in supporting students interested in the field through educational initiatives.
In his remarks, Sun Siyam Media’s CEO Mohamed Asif (Mondhu) said Addu City’s rich culture, history, and the stories of its people offer exceptional opportunities for producing engaging content. He expressed confidence that the bureau would contribute to developing a new generation of skilled and talented media professionals.
Mohamed Waheed, head of “Vaguthun Live,” which oversees the bureau’s operations, said the partnership with a major media network such as Sun Siyam Media would provide significant motivation and support for their efforts to deliver real-time updates from Addu.
SSM’s SSTV and Sun Online have consistently prioritised regional news and events. The media group said the establishment of the bureau would enable it to amplify the voices of Addu City’s residents more effectively than ever before. A Sun Siyam Media team is currently operating in Addu, producing specialised programmes that showcase the city’s distinctive cuisine and local flavours.
‘Vaguthun Live’ will oversee the day-to-day operations of the Addu bureau’s office and studio. Arrangements have also been made for interested individuals to contact the organisation regarding various content creation opportunities.
Sun Siyam Media further announced plans to expand the initiative by establishing similar regional bureaus in other parts of the Maldives in the future.
