Identities of two Indian who attempted to smuggle over one kilo drugs disclosed

Maldives Police Service, on Sunday, has disclosed the identities of two Indian nationals suspected of attempting to smuggle over one kilo of drugs into the Maldives via air.

The suspects have been identified as Jainab Wajih Ali, 25 and Mohamed Navaz Dhayathar, 21.

According to the Police, the two Indian nationals, who are suspected of attempting to smuggle over one kilo of drugs into the Maldives, were handed over to the authority by Maldives Customs Service.

Both suspects have been remanded in custody for five days upon presentation before the court for a remand hearing.

The Police added that the case is under further investigation.

The Criminal Court’s remand order shows that hashish oil was discovered in the luggage of both suspects. During the court proceeding, the suspects expressed their wishes to appoint legal representation.

The arrest of Jainab and Navaz brought the number of Indian nationals arrested on drug-related charges within last week to four, with the remaining suspects detained after roughly seven kilograms of narcotics were discovered in their possession.
