Fahi Dhiriulhun Corporation (FDC) has begun issuing fines to individuals who dump garbage in and around the Amaan towers in Hulhumale' Phase II, following repeated violations and growing public complaints.
Residents have been sharing photos and videos on social media showing large piles of boxes, household waste, and discarded items accumulating near the towers. FDC had previously warned that action would be taken against those responsible.
In a statement issued Tuesday, the corporation said irregular and improper waste disposal was causing significant inconvenience to residents and creating risks to public health and safety. FDC described the behaviour as a clear breach of its waste‑management regulations.

According to the corporation, littering in corridors, walkways, and outdoor areas of the towers is strictly prohibited. All household waste must be disposed of in designated bins located in the ground‑floor garbage rooms. FDC also reminded residents that unit owners are responsible for properly disposing of boxes, bottles, and other materials generated when moving into their apartments.
The corporation said it has now implemented fines for illegal dumping, and several violators have already been penalised. FDC added that it will continue enforcing the rules to maintain a clean and safe living environment.
FDC and WAMCO are jointly working to clear accumulated waste around the towers, the statement said.
The Amaan housing project consists of 32 towers, each 17 to 18 storeys high, developed under two main components managed by Indian contractors: Amaan Udhares and Amaan Dhoadhi.
Meanwhile, Male' City Mayor Adam Azim has again criticised HDC, the company overseeing municipal services in Hulhumale', saying the waste‑dumping problem can only be resolved with a proper system and disposal fees that residents can reasonably afford.
