CCTV cameras have been installed across all towers of the Fahi Dhiriulhun Corporation (FDC) flats in Hulhumale' to identify litterers and enhance safety for residents and visitors, the corporation said.
According to FDC, the cameras will monitor the premises 24 hours a day, with the aim of maintaining a clean and secure environment around the towers.
The latest FDC housing blocks in Hulhumale' Phase II consist of 32 towers, 16 at Aman Dhoadhi and 16 at Aaan Udhares. In addition to these buildings, CCTV cameras have also been installed throughout the Hiyaa towers, including every floor, stairwell, elevator and basement.
With CCTV actively monitoring our premises, improper waste disposal will be observed and addressed accordingly. Please dispose of waste responsibly and help us maintain a clean environment. #FDC #FahiDhiriulhun #AmaanMujthamauakah #BetterLivingBrighterFuture pic.twitter.com/BNUuXr7kD0

The move comes amid persistent concerns over improper waste disposal in the public areas of the flats. Earlier this month, FDC revealed that it had spent MVR 13.4 million on clearing garbage from the common areas of the housing blocks.
FDC has previously warned that legal action will be taken against those who dump waste illegally. The corporation said it will continue implementing all necessary measures to prevent littering and ensure responsible community living.
