Four expats arrested with 54 alcohol bottles to be deported

Four Bangladeshi nationals arrested on suspicion of unlawful alcohol trade are set to be deported.

The four Bangladeshi men were arrested during an operation conducted by Maldives Police Service’s Drug Enforcement Department and Counter Narcotics Intelligence in Male’ on Tuesday.

They have been identified as Sipon Ali, 21, Juwel Rana, 32,  MD Nazrul Islam, 20 and MD Ibrahim, 22.

According to the Police, a search of a house linked to suspects in Maafannu district uncovered 54 alcohol bottles. The Police added that a motorbike used by the four men has been towed.

All four men have been handed over to Maldives Immigration for deportation.
