Adam Azim urges unity to ensure MDP wins local council election and 2028’s election

Male’ Mayor Adam Azim who secured MDP’s Male’ mayoral ticket during the local council election primary held on Friday has urged to build on the victory by working towards to ensure the main opposition party’s win in the local council election and ultimately, the 2028 presidential election.

Adam Azim secured a landslide victory in the primary against former Central Henveiru MP Ali Azim.

Speaking during a victory event held on Friday night, Adam Azim thanked his supporters who worked towards ensuring his win in the primary. He also extended gratitude to the general members of MDP who voted for him.

Adam Azim described his victory in the primary as a victory for MDP, adding he wishes to see his opponent candidate and everyone else work together to secure Male’ mayoral seat and the broader local council elections for the party.

He stressed that the citizens would suffer as long as MDP is not in power, noting that a presidential victory is necessary to remedy the situation.

“Riding this momentum, we can secure an MDP victory in the 2028 presidential election only if everyone works together,” he said.

Speaking further, Adam Azim acknowledged that many issues plague the Maldivian capital, Male’ City. He affirmed his commitment to deliver a better Male’ for the people.

He also reiterated that he will always remain with MDP, expressing his belief that the party has positively transformed the Maldives.
