Stolen USD 20,000 recovered whilst hidden among trees

Maldives Police Service has recovered USD 20,000 stolen from an expatriate, which was hidden among trees.

The incident took place on Friday.

The Police said a theft at a migrant residence block and was brought to the attention of officers patrolling Hulhumalé Phase II on Friday. The officers proceeded to the scene to investigate further, where they learned that the stolen items included a bag containing USD 20,000.

The Police did not disclose the details of other items that were stolen.

According to the authority, the search of the area resulted in the discovery of the bag containing USD 20,000, along with a wallet and other unidentified items, hidden among trees. They have been returned to the owner, the Police added. 

No arrests have been made in connection with the case which is under further investigation by the Police.
