A man has been remanded in custody until the conclusion of his trial over repeated thefts in Addu City.
Police revealed the identity of Ahmed Haarish, 32, from S. Maradhoo, as being the man remanded in custody pending trial.
He was arrested on Saturday on suspicion of stealing a large number of items from a house in Maradhoo, Addu City. Police said he was taken into custody under a court order, and a subsequent search of his residence led to the recovery of many of the stolen items.
In addition to this case, another theft case involving Haarish is being investigated by Gan Police Station.
Police said Haarish was produced before the court for a custody hearing on Wednesday, where the judge ordered that he be held in police custody until his trial ends.
Police are continuing their investigation into the case.
