46-year-old arrested over child sex abuse case

A 46-year-old Maldivian man was arrested in Hulhumale’ on Tuesday evening for allegedly sexually assaulting a child.

Police said in a Wednesday message to the media that a case involving the sexual abuse of a 13-year-old girl was reported on Tuesday.

The suspect was arrested in connection with the case.

Police do not typically disclose the full names or personal information of individuals arrested in child sexual abuse cases.

The incident remains under investigation.
