Speedboats traveling to residential islands docked at Male' jetty: Two Foakaidhoo men have been arrested for stealing a speedboat.
Two Maldivian men have been arrested on suspicion of stealing a speedboat from Thilafushi lagoon.
The suspects have been identified as two Foakaidhoo natives: Hassan Rasheed Ahmed, 30, Chanbeyleege and Ibrahim Mamdhooh, 27, Shiuma Manzil.
Both suspects have been remanded in custody for five days upon presentation before the court on Friday.
According to their remand order, the two suspects, after stealing the speedboat docked at Thilafushi lagoon, had vandalized the vessel and stolen an engine gear.
Judge Safwath Habeeb, who was presiding over the case, had noted that both suspects had admitted to the allegations against them.
As both of suspects had admitted to the allegations, the Judge had advised them that they have the opportunity to sing plea agreements or caution agreements during the investigation stage.
It is unclear whether the suspects have prior criminal records.
