Maldivian capital hit with another blackout, two months after 6-hour outage

The power has gone out in the Maldivian capital, from Male’ City to Hulhumale’.

The power went out in the capital just before 09:30 am on Saturday. 

State Electric Company (STELCO) attributed the power outage to a “technical issue”, adding that they are working on fixing the issue.

The latest outage comes two months after a total blackout in the capital that lasted nearly six hours.

The blackout on June 1 prompted President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu to order a police investigation. However, the findings of this investigation were never publicly disclosed.
