A 37-year-old man has died following a crash between a motorbike and a car at Addu City’s link road.
Maldives Police Service said the accident, which took place in Feydhoo district, was reported to the authority at approximately 19:39pm on Saturday evening. The man who died in the accident was Ibrahim Siyadh of Ulfath, Feydhoo; the driver of the motorbike.
The Police, citing doctors, said he was already dead when brought to the hospital.
The driver of the car has been identified as Mohamed Maahil Mumthaz, Margold, GDh. Fiyoari. He has been detained by the Police.
The case is under further investigation by the Police.
The fatal accident in Addu City’s link road has been reported within less than 24 hours of the death of a 30-year-old man who died after he crashed his motorcycle on the Laamu link road.
According to the Police, the accident was reported at around 01:40am Saturday.
The motorcyclist, Ibrahim Nauzam, 30, Sooraj Villa, L. Maabaidhoo, was rushed to the Gan Regional Hospital.
Abdul Hannan Abdul Raheem, the CEO of Gan Regional Hospital, told Sun that Nauzam sustained multiple injuries in the accident, including fractured ribs.
He was pronounced dead at around 08:45am.
