Young racer injured in Gan tournament remains on life support

A young racer who sustained critical injuries after falling into the sea during a racing competition in L. Gan on Saturday remains on life support, confirms the Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH).

The 20-year-old man had been competing in the Racing Championship – Laamu Edition, when he lost control of his motorcycle and plunged into the sea with the vehicle.

The incident took place at 09:54 am Saturday.

The young man sustained critical injuries in the accident, and was initially treated at the Intensive Care Unit of the Gan Regional Hospital, before being flown to IGMH in Male’ on Sunday.

A spokesperson from IGMH told Sun on Monday that the young man remains on ventilator support at the hospital’s ICU.

The police previously said they were investigating the cause of the accident.

When questioned on Monday, a police spokesperson said that the investigation remained ongoing.
