The former Deputy Minister of Ministry of Finance, Mohamed Anas on Friday was appointed as the new President of the Privatization and Corporatization Board (PCB).

The President’s Office, confirming this appointment, said Anas was appointed to helm PCB by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu in accordance with the authority granted under Privatization, Corporatization, Monitoring, and Evaluating of Government Businesses Act (Law No. 3/2013).

Anas holds a Master of Business Administration from the Maldives National University (MNU).

Before his appointment to lead PCB, he served as the Deputy of the Ministry of Finance and Planning. He was also an Audit Manager at the Housing Development Corporation (HDC) and an Associate Professor at the Maldives Business School.

PCB’s top leadership role fell to a vacuum after Hamdhee Ageel was terminated from the role on February 13th. He was appointed for the role back on November 22, 2023.

The government did not provide any explanation for Hamdhee’s sacking.
