Three injured in three-vehicle pileup on highway

Three people have been injured in a three-vehicle pileup on the highway.

Maldives Police Service said the pileup involving a car and two motorbikes was reported to the authority at approximately 7:59am this morning.

They detailed that the pileup occurred when a motorbike rear-ended a car, which was then struck from behind by another motorbike.

Police identified the three people injured in the accident as three people on the two motorbikes. Two of them are being treated at the hospital, added the Police.

However, the extent of their injuries was not disclosed.

Police said all three vehicles involved in the pileup were driven by individuals holding driver’s licenses in the respective categories.

Numerous accidents have taken place on Sinamale' bridge and highway, of which some have resulted in fatalities.
