Man attacked with knife in Thimarafushi

A man sustained injuries on Saturday afternoon, after getting stabbed with a knife.

The police initially reported that it had responded to an incident in Thimarafushi involving a person who was stabbed with a sharp-edged weapon in a fight between two groups of people.

But the police later said that it involved five people who barged into a home in Thimarafushi and engaged in violence.

The incident was reported to the police at around 01:27 pm Saturday.

The police said that the person injured in the incident has been discharged after treatment at the local health center.

A Thimarafushi resident told Sun that the incident had been a fight between two young men in the island.

The source reported that one of them had stabbed the other in his back with a knife during the fight.

The police have yet to make an arrest, but said they were investigating the case.

Records show the police received close to 700 reports of assault so far this year.
