Maldives Metrological Service (Met Office) has issued a yellow alert to southernmost Maldivian atolls – Addu City and Fuvahmulah City – warning of strong winds and rough seas.
The yellow alert is in effect from 15:00pm to 19:00pm on Friday.
It warns of strong winds of 25 miles to 30 miles per hour with very rough seas.

A white alert has also been issued for the region from Haa Alifu Atoll to Kaafu Atoll.
The alert in effect from 16:15pm to 22:00pm on Friday warns of heavy rain and thunderstorms with gusts of 45 miles per hour.

Schools have gone into the mid-term break of the second term on Thursday which is expected to drive up the number of trips both by air and sea, while many local migrants in the capital area are expected to make trips during the weekend.
Henceforth, authorities have urged travelers to exercise caution.
