Acclaimed poet Ali Shareef dies at 84

Ali Shareef, Ranika, Gn. Fuvahmulah, dies at 84.

Acclaimed local poet, Ali Shareef, Ranika, Gn. Fuvahmulah, has passed away on Tuesday.

At the time of his death, Ali Shareef was 84-years-old.

His funeral prayer will be held at Hulhumale’ Cemetery Mosque after Asr Prayer.

Ali Shareef has received award of recognition in the field of poetry in 1981.

He has published two poetry books under the titles ‘Bissaaveri 1’ and ‘Bissaaveri 2’.

Ali Shareef has dedicated 31 years of service to the government, spanning two separate terms.

Throughout his career, he has worked in the legal and judiciary field, holding positions in the Attorney General’s Office and serving as a judge in six different courts.

He has also contributed to the education sector, serving as a grade three Dhivehi teacher at Majeedhiyya School, and as a supervisor and educational supervisor at the Education Ministry.

Ali Shareef has also worked as a senior assistant at the National Centre for Dhivehi Language and Culture. He also held the posts of director at the Ministry of Information, Arts and Culture and as the complaints commissioner at the Public Complaints Bureau.

Ali Shareef is the father of former CEO of Sun Online, Sinan Ali.
