Hulhumale’ Hospital mourns death of beloved patient remembered for close bonds with nurses, doctors

The staff and management of Hulhumalé Hospital are mourning the sudden death of a young man who was a regular patient and had developed a remarkably close bond with the hospital community.

The deceased has been identified as 27-year-old Ibrahim Ahmed Sodiq, from GDh. Thinadhoo. Ibrahim had been receiving ongoing treatment at Hulhumalé Hospital for mental health-related concerns.

Following news of his death, numerous hospital employees took to social media to express their deep grief. In a poignant Facebook post, one staff member described Ibrahim’s death as a profound loss for the entire institution.

"Our doctors and nurses, health workers, clinical staff and the management spent so much time with him, bedside, canteen and some of us have taken him around Hulhumale for a peace of mind too," the employee wrote.

Staff members also remembered Ibrahim as a multi-talented young man with a passion for drawing, breakdancing, and creating TikTok content. His artwork is reportedly displayed prominently on the hospital's notice boards.

Sources report that Ibrahim was not admitted to the hospital at the time of his death and his passing was not attributed to a major physical illness.

 

Staff at Hulhumalé Hospital have described Ibrahim’s death as akin to losing a close friend or a member of their own family, underscoring the profound impact he had on the hospital community.
