Abdulla Shareef, who was 77 at the time of his death, served the Maldivian government for over 41 years, with the majority of his distinguished career spent at the President’s Office. In recognition of his longstanding contributions to public service, he was awarded the National Award for Public Service in 2023.
President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu expressed his condolences on social media following news of Shareef’s passing. The President described Abdullah Shareef as a highly capable official who served the state with sincerity and integrity. He also emphasized that Shareef had been a role model in professional ethics and discipline.
"I extend my heartfelt condolences to the family of the late Abdulla Shareef during this time of grief," the President stated.
"May Almighty Allah grant him His mercy and forgiveness, and bestow upon him the eternal blessings of Jannah. Ameen."
The funeral prayer was held at Aasahara Mosque following the Fajr prayer this morning.
