Man detained while naked handed over to family

Maldives Police Service states the man detained from Hulhumale’ Skate Park on Monday while walking around naked has been handed over to his family.

A video of the incident shows the man, naked except for a pair of sunglasses and sandals, walking around inside the park while casually smoking a cigarette, with his t-shirt hanging over the railing of the park’s ramp, and a backpack and helmet on the ground.

Police detained the man on Monday who was subsequently identified as a Maldivian.

Police confirmed that the man has been handed over to his family after briefly keeping him in their custody when questioned by Sun regarding the matter on Tuesday.

They did not comment when asked whether any action was taken against the man or whether he suffered from a mental illness.

However, the case is still under investigation by the Police.
