35-year-old arrested for the 61st time in theft case

A 35-year-old Maldivian man has been arrested for the 61st time.

He was arrested on suspicion of theft on October 13th.

Police told Sun that he was arrested on suspicion of being in possession of some stolen paint cans.

Notably, he has been arrested on 60 previous occasions of which, in 22 times: was remanded in custody.

He was remanded in custody for five days following his arrest on October 13th. During a hearing held on Saturday on whether or not to extend his remand, he appealed to be granted conditional release. 

Citing his criminal record, the Court decided to extend his remand by 15 days. Henceforth, the extended remand will expire on November 3rd
