Addu man arrested from airport with 349 grams of drugs

A man from Addu City has been arrested from the Velana International Airport on suspicion of smuggling drugs into the Maldives.

The police identified the suspect as Abdulla Sadiq, 65, Vehethaanuge, S. Hithadhoo.

He was arrested from the airport on Tuesday, September 17.

According to the police, he was arrested carrying 349 grams of drugs. The police did not specify the type of drug.

The police said that when presented before the court for his remand hearing, the judge remanded him in custody of the police for 15 days.

The case is under further investigation by the police.
