CIDCA signs feasibility study agreement for Male’-Vilimale’ roads project

Maldives signed an agreement with the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA) on Tuesday, regarding a feasibility study for the redevelopment of the roads of Male’ City and suburban Vilimale’.

The letters of exchange on the feasibility study for the project was signed by Maldivian Infrastructure Minister Dr. Abdulla Muthalib and CIDCA’s Chairman Luo Zhaohui.

It followed a meeting between Maldivian Foreign Minister Moosa Zameer and Luo, as part of an official visit to Beijing.

According to the Maldives Foreign Ministry, discussions during the meeting focused on strengthening collaboration in key infrastructure projects that are vital for the sustainable development of the Maldives.

Zameer emphasized the importance of the partnership between the Maldives and CIDCA, highlighting ongoing initiatives and exploring new opportunities for cooperation.

Both sides agreed on the importance of timely implementation of projects that will improve infrastructure and enhance economic growth in the Maldives, thus providing substantial benefits for the Maldivian people.

The meeting concluded with a mutual commitment to collaborate closely, ensuring the successful execution of future initiatives that benefit both nations.

Zameer was accompanied by Muthalib, Finance Minister Dr. Mohamed Shafeeq, Ambassador-Designate Dr. Fazeel Najeeb and senior officials from the Maldivian government and the Maldivian embassy in China.

Muthalib had previously said that the redevelopment of Vilimale’ roads would be carried out based on a design approved by the district’s residents.

The redevelopment of the roads of Male’ and Vilimale’ was one of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s electoral pledges.
