PNC secures 3 Male' City Council vacant seats

Ruling PNC candidates secured the three vacant seats of Male' City Council in Saturday's by-election.

The ruling People's National Congress (PNC) has secured all three vacant seats of Male' City Council in Saturday's by-election.

Candidates running for the vacant seats include;

Central-Machchangolhi:

  • Fathimath Ishan Ali (PNC)
  • Hawwa Shifana (MDP)

West-Henveiru:

  • Fathimath Shaufa Saleem (PNC)
  • Mohamed Ali Jinadh (MDP)

Hulhumale':

  • Ali Aiman (PNC)
  • Ahmed Rasheed (MDP)

Besides the by-election of Male' City Council, by-elections were held in Faafu atoll Bilehdhoo, to elect the council's president; Kulhudhuffushi City, to elect the north-Kulhudhuffushi member; and Raa atoll Rasmaadhoo, to elect the council's female member.

After President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu won the presidential election, Male' City Council's mayoral position became vacant. The position was secured by former MTCC Managing Director Adam Azim at an earlier by-election.
