Former Public Safety Minister passed away

Public Safety Minister of the 1968 government's cabinet; Abdul Hannan Haleem ('Dhoshi Meyna Kilegefaanu') --

Former Public Safety Minister Abdul Hannan Haleem ('Dhoshi Meyna Kilegefaanu') passed away on Wednesday.

Haleem, who passed away at Tree Top Hospital, was the last surviving member of the 1968 government's cabinet as well as from among those who were extended with the title of 'Sumuhwul Ameer Kilege'.

A witness of the inception of Maldives' second republic 55 years ago, Haleem filled the Public Safety Minister's position from 1968 to 1978.

He was also an MP of the first parliament assembly formed at the beginning of the 1968 government.

He is a descendent of Huravee and Dhiyamigili royal blood line.
