Over 40 homes in Feydhoo damaged following heavy rain

Addu City Feydhoo Council, on Friday night, said over 40 homes on the island have reported damage following heavy rain.

MNDF, in a post, said Feydhoo roads have been flooded following heavy rains subsequent to which soldiers from Hithadhoo Fire Station and Southern Area Command are active on the island to drain the floods.

Feydhoo Maadhela constituency’s councilor Mohamed Faisal told Sun that damages to various extent have been reported by dozens of homes following heavy rain.

Faisal said the council, in collaboration with National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) will undertake efforts to relocate residents from homes if warranted.

Earlier, the Maldives Metrological Service (Met Office) had issued a yellow alert to Addu and Fuvahmulah City from 8:30pn to 12:30pm for heavy rain.

Henceforth, Maldives Red Crescent advised residents in these areas to exercise caution.
