Rain expected to prevail over large part of Maldives

Rain is expected to prevail over a large part of Maldives over the next 24 hours, according to the Maldives Meteorological Service.

The warm weather currently being experienced in Maldives is being sporadically broken by rain. The Maldivian capital Male’, experienced heavy rain overnight.

On Saturday morning, a spokesperson from the national weather agency said that scattered showers with few heavy showers and thunderstorms expected to prevail in central and southern Maldives.

Isolated showers are also expected in the north.

But despite the rain, the seas are expected to be slight.

Winds will blow from southwest/westerly at five to 15 miles per hour.

The Feydhoo district of Addu experienced heavy rain on Friday night, resulting is extensive flooding. Over 40 homes reported damages due to the flooding.
