Police remuneration up by 35% effective from March

Remuneration of Maldives Police Service staff has been increased effective from March 01st, as per the new pay harmonization framework, said Police Spokesperson Chief Superintendent Ahmed Shifan on Tuesday.

While speaking with 'Sun', Shifan said this is the first time remuneration of police officials have increased since 2009. He further revealed plans to introduce new allowances under the new pay framework.

He confirms changes have been made to previous allowance structure since March 01st.

"The government extended police remuneration by 35% effective from March. The pay framework consists of basic salary, allowance for the designation, job allowance and an additional allowance based on the work," Shifan added.

During his presidential campaign, Maldives President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu pledged a twofold increment in salaries for Maldives Police Service.
