26-year-old arrested in child pregnancy case

A 26-year-old male has been arrested in relation to a case of a minor getting pregnant in one of the northern islands.

Maldives Police Service has said that he was arrested last Saturday under a court order.

When he was brought to court for a decision on his remand and was the court ordered to keep him in custody for 30 days.

This case was brought to the public’s attention when the mother of the 15-year-old girl who is pregnant shared the story on social media.

The mother also alleges that after she became pregnant, she was almost manipulated to commit other crimes.
