Former South Maafannu councillor Aiman arrested on suspicion of sexually assaulting a child

Former South-Maafannu councilor Mohamed Aiman Ismail (Aanu) has been arrested on suspicion of sexually assaulting a child.

Police spokesperson Ahmed Shiyam confirmed to Sun that Aiman was taken into custody on allegations of child sexual abuse. He said the case is now under active investigation, with officers working to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Aiman served as a councillor after being elected in the 2014 local council elections, representing South Maafannu. Police have not disclosed further details, including the age of the victim or the timeline of the alleged offence, citing the sensitivity of child-related cases.
