One arrested in Thinadhoo stabbing

The police have arrested a suspect in the stabbing of a young man in GDh. Thinadhoo.

The stabbing was reported to the police at around 01:50 pm Sunday.

The victim, a 25-year-old Maldivian male, is being treated at the Dr. Abdul Samad Memorial Hospital.

A police spokesperson said a suspect in the case was arrested under court order Sunday night. The suspect was identified as a 30-year-old Maldivian male.

Locals described the attack as a drug deal gone bad.

“It’s rumored they take party drugs. This is what led to the violence,” said a local who spoke to Sun.

The case is under investigation by the police.
